Artists such as Philip Wilson Steer and Charles Rennie Mackintosh produced some of their best known work in the Suffolk seaside village of Walberswick. Why did they, and so many other interesting characters choose Walberswick? The decades each side of 1900 saw the creation of large, unique houses and the arrival of eccentric families to live in therm. This is their story, and the story of the people already here. The book is illustrated in colour with pictures from the Walberswick Scroll by John Doman Turner, a member of the Camden Town Group.
